My name is Jed Merrill. I am a filmmaker and photographer who has spent a lot of my life in Park City, Utah, a town famous for art and music festivals, the Sundance Film Festival, three world class ski resorts, stunning scenery, and some very intelligent people.
I love photography. I may have caught the bug from my grandfather, Wayne Albert Merrill, who once owned a photography shop in Heber City, Utah.
I've taken a few classes from places like Chimpsy and Flying Photo. I am also currently mentored by a Getty Images photographer in my local Toastmasters club.
Most recently, I've taken up underwater photography as part of an Advanced Open Water scuba course.
While I love to take pictures wherever I go, from China to Egypt to Iraq and soon Belize, my philosophy is that one should start and practice one's art in one's own backyard, especially when one is from a place as beautiful as Park City, Utah!
I'll be posting images from Park City and surrounding towns, and occasionally an international or underwater adventure.
